Zinc Gluconate is a zinc salt of gluconic acid comprised of two gluconic acid molecules for each zinc cation (2+). Zinc gluconate is used to treat and to prevent zinc deficiency.

Zinc gluconate is usually prescribed to:

• Treat & prevent zinc deficiency

• Ease common cold and flu

• Boost the immune system

Route of administration – Oral & Parenteral

Zinc deficiency may be associated with an increased risk of infection. Although the mechanism of action is not completely known, zinc supplementation may be used to increase immunity against viruses or may interfere with the replication of certain viruses, such as the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Inform the physician if the patient is allergic to the active ingredients and any other drugs.

Brief about the allergy and the signs like:

• Rash

• Itching

• Shortness of breath

• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat or any other signs

Zinc gluconate must not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient(s) or to any of the excipients of the medicine

Report to the physician immediately if the patients are having any of these following symptoms:

• Upset stomach

• Unpleasant taste

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Headache

• Dezziness

• Allergic reaction

If allergic to any food, please consult with the physician.

During this medication, milk and dairy products should be avoided. Separate the use of zinc gluconate from these products by at least 2 hours before administration. Separate for 2 hours after administration if these products also contain phosphorus.

This medication should not be taken with bran and high fiber foods. For optimal absorption, take zinc gluconate at least 2 hours before or after eating high-fiber foods.

Consumption of alcohol is not advisable.
