Orciprenaline is a class of adrenergics for systemic use, non-selective beta-adrenoreceptor agonists. Used in the treatment of obstructive airway diseases.

COPD preparations- (Anti asthmatics)

Orciprenaline is prescribed for the treatment of bronchial asthma, constriction of the air passages, lung Disorder, slow heart rate.

As advised by the physician.
It can be taken with or without food.

According to the dosage forms the following routes of administartion are available:
1. Oral
2. Intravenous
3. Inhalation

Orciprenaline is a moderately selective beta(2)-adrenergic agonist that stimulates receptors of the smooth muscle in the lungs, uterus and vasculature supplying skeletal muscle, with minimal or no effect on alpha-adrenergic receptors. Intracellularly, the actions of orciprenaline are mediated by cAMP, the production of which is augmented by beta stimulation. The drug is believed to work by activating adenylate cyclase, the enzyme responsible for producing the cellular mediator cAMP.

Drug should not be given to patient with :
• Hypothyroidism
• Diabetes mellitus
• Hypertension
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Ischemic heart disease
• Seizures or hypersensitivity to sympathomometics (pheochromocytoma)

Report to the physician if the patients are allergic to the active ingredients or any other drugs.

Cardiac arrhythmias associated with tachycardia.

Report to the physician immediately if the patients are having any of these following symptoms:
Trembling, sore throat, cough, nausea, increased glucose level.

If allergic to any food, please consult with the physician.
Avoid high doses of caffeine.

Consumption of alcohol is not advisable.
